Family History Research
Discover Your Roots with Expert Resources
Our Digital Hub offers free access to The Genealogist website, a premium family history and house research platform. Whether you're tracing your family tree or researching the history of local properties, this powerful resource puts detailed historical records at your fingertips.
Clear instructions are provided next to the right-hand computer to help you get started with your genealogical research. The Old Chapel Heritage Group coordinates additional training sessions, especially as new resources become available, ensuring you can make the most of these valuable research tools.
This service connects perfectly with our broader heritage mission. Many visitors use our facilities to research their family connections to Cotherstone and the wider Teesdale area, contributing to our growing understanding of local history and community connections across generations.

Digital Support and Training
Learning Together in Our Community
We understand that technology can sometimes feel overwhelming, which is why we provide hands-on support and training opportunities. Regular help sessions are available every Wednesday from 2-4pm, where knowledgeable volunteers can assist with getting started, answer general technology questions, or help troubleshoot any issues.
Our commitment to digital inclusion goes beyond just providing computers. We have funding available for IT and digital training programs, and we're always interested to hear what skills our community would find most useful. Whether it's basic computer skills, internet safety, or specific software training, we can explore developing programs that meet local needs.
The Digital Hub serves people of all ages and technical abilities. From school students working on projects to older adults learning to video call grandchildren, everyone is welcome. Our patient, friendly approach ensures that no one feels intimidated or left behind in our increasingly digital world.
